Mixed Media

My artworks are a mix between watercolor and digital painting.

I start working with intuition, making an abstract painting, textures, elements, that connect me with the mood of the emotion I’m portraying. In this stage I think of colors, of movement, and everything is open.

Then, I gather all the pieces and the key elements I discovered that connect me with that particular mood, and I start sketching different thumbnails with possible compositions. Sometimes they are full of color, others, they are made in pen quickly.

As my work revolves around portraits, I often need pictures of reference to understand how the light works on that particular piece, for this, I take pictures of myself, or other people.

Once the idea is clear, I scan all the watercolor textures and elements I made on the first intuitive step. From here, I draw and paint the portrait digitally, always trying to create a balance between the two techniques.

Sketchbook

Everything is Allowed

A random color, a drawing on the skin, a mark made by the child I was, allowed.
Making a mess is encouraged. Playfulness, happiness, those moments I feel expanding form my belly.
I create, all art materials on the table, a splatter in the floor, it’s ok.
It makes sense, it’s ok, it doesn’t make sense, it’s also ok, everything is allowed, welcome.
The beautiful, the ugly, the perfect imperfections, ok.
My sketchbook is a place to play, study and find new elements to include in my artwork.
