Bring Play Into Your Artwork

Hello! We are Chris and Riso and we are pleased to invite you to join our course, a celebration of creativity and play.

We will help you pushing your creativity to the next level, as well as gaining confidence in your art practice, to make bolder decisions in your paintings. We aim to help you connect with the creative fun, finding more excitement in your painting practice, and motivating you to paint more!

Our work is very different, but we realized that we have a similar attitude when painting; we like feeling open, trying new things, and believe that the art process should never be a series of steps that you always follow, but rather an evolving way of doing things. And this attitude inspired us to create this course.

This course is not a technical course on how to do things properly, it’s a self-care course for artists who wish to lower the pressure, make things for themselves and connect with their creative voice.

For this, we created a series of activities that we will be teaching throughout January and February, six 1:30h classes that will include themes such as:

  • Bring play into your artwork

  • Find inspiration in unexpected places

  • Intuitive animation

  • Making things for you and you only

  • Seeing things from a different perspective

  • Bringing more emotion to your paintings

Every class will start with a warm-up exercise. After that, one of us will share a painting demo with you, and then you will have time to paint and ask questions. Every level is welcome and appreciated!
All classes will be recorded and so you have the option of joining us live or watching them later.

Would you like to give it as a gift card? In our shop, you will find the option. We will send you a digital gift card for you to print and give to your loved one. Perfect for a Christmas present!!

MATERIAL

This is a course where we will focus on what to paint and not on how to. You will be able to use the materials you already have at home, and we advise you to have some dry and wet media to combine

• Wet media: Watercolor, ink, or gouache
• Dry media: Color pencils, pastels, oil pastels, and/or markers
• Optional: Digital media, Riso’s preferred technique is digital, on an iPad, because of this, some of the class demos will be on Procreate, however, all the exercises will be translatable to the paper, and you will get tips on that.
• Palette to mix the paint
• Watercolor paper of 250-300 gms, this is the only essential thing, you can buy a watercolor sketchbook or sheets of paper, your choice!

ABOUT US

foto+de+perfil+de+artista+Chris+Gambrell.jpeg

My name is Chris Gambrell,
(@Gambrell_) a mixed-media artist hailing from Bristol, United Kingdom. My work mostly revolves around 2D representations of the figure, portraits, and fashion. My interest lies in mark-making, color, texture, and the economy of all of these things. I maintain the belief that if the work excites you in the process of making it, that will then translate to the viewing audience. My clients have included Vogue, Zara, and Laurence King publishing.

My name is Àngela Sierra, but you might know me by Riso Chan, my artistic name.
I’m an artist and a creative teacher, currently working on developing an array of online courses and on artwork for a fun project.
I always like to find time to teach arts, and have done so since 2017, at first I focused on techniques, but eventually, I understood that my true passion is to find out what sparks creativity in my students, their unique voice, and their unique way to apply materials.
