Hello! We are Riso and Chris and we are pleased to invite you to join our second course together, this time, a celebration of colour.
In this seven week course, you will learn about colour and how to think about it to find more freedom in your paintings, make effective decisions and express a mood.
During the first three weeks of the course, Riso will be teaching you the theory behind the colour: how to study it, different elements that compose colour and how to use them to your advantage to create different qualities in your paintings.
After that, Chris will take the course from there and help you being more intuitive with colour. You will be exploring your colour tendencies, how to create a mood with colour, and how to do colour explorations of your paintings before settling on a colour palette.
Then, we will have one last class, a show and tell where everyone can participate, share what you did during the course and what you would like to do next. Also a great moment to ask for final questions.
We will be talking about themes such as:
Creating a colour hierarchy
Best practices to study colour
How to push colours to make more vibrant paintings
Creating a mood in your paintings
Working with colour palettes
Using your intuition
Every class will start with a theory presentation and/or a warming up exercise. After that, the teacher will share a painting demo with you, and then you will have time to paint and ask questions.
Every level is welcome and appreciated! However, if you are a beginner, please mix a colour wheel with the three primary colours before starting the course, we will take it from there!
All classes will be recorded and so you have the option of joining us live or watching them later.
ABOUT US
My name is Chris Gambrell,
(@Gambrell_) a mixed-media artist hailing from Bristol, United Kingdom. My work mostly revolves around 2D representations of the figure, portraits, and fashion. My interest lies in mark-making, color, texture, and the economy of all of these things. I maintain the belief that if the work excites you in the process of making it, that will then translate to the viewing audience. My clients have included Vogue, Zara, and Laurence King publishing.
My name is Àngela Sierra, but you might know me by Riso Chan, my artistic name.
I’m an artist and a creative teacher with a passion for colour, my work has been exhibited in China, at the Zhejiang Art Museum and the USA, at the Witte Museum as well as in other Galleries.
I’m an art teacher for Google’s arts program, and I also organize my own courses and private mentorships.
I’m currently working on a very cool project but secret, I will tell you more about it when it releases! What I can say though is that it will be accompanied by an exhibition which I’m preparing now.
